DHAKA, May 21, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested 10 persons from various places in Dhaka and Mymensingh districts for their alleged involvement in the murder of photographer Nurul Islam.

The arrested are Md Naeem Ahmed, 20,Md Shahin Akand alias Shahinul ,20, Md Shahin Chowkidar ,22, Md Rahim Sarkar ,19, Md Nayan Ahmed ,19, Riday Madbar ,18, Md Abdur Razzak alias Raja ,19, Md Anwar Hossain ,19, Md Shahidul Islam ,20 and Md Arman, 18.

Acting on a tip-off, law enforcers on Tuesday conducted drives at various places in the capital city Dhaka and Mymensingh and arrested them in possession of two DSLR cameras, a machete, a large knife used in the killing, according to a press release issued today.

Photographer Nurul Islam was reportedly attacked and killed at Rishipara of Jaffrabad Pulpar area in the city on May 16. The killers also took away his camera.

It is suspected that the arrestees, aged between 18 and 20, plotted the crime with the aim of using the stolen DSLR cameras to make TikTok videos.
