Ex-MP Momtaz on 6-day remand in two cases

MANIKGANJ, May 22, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed former Member of 
Parliament (MP) from Manikganj-2 constituency and singer Momtaz Begum on a 
six-day remand in two separate cases.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Ivy Akter granted two-day remand as police 
produced Momtaz before the court and pleaded to place her on a six-day remand 
in a murder case filed with Singair Police Station.

In another case, Senior Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Abdun Nur granted her 
four-day remand as police produced Momtaz before the court and pleaded to 
place her on a six-day remand.

Mentionable, Momtaz was at Kashimpur jail after four days remand in two 
separate cases filed with Singair Police Station and Harirampur Police 
Station.

Earlier, a team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested Momtaz Begum 
from the city's Dhanmondi area on Monday Night (May 19) as she was accused in 
multiple cases of the July-August mass uprising.
