DHAKA, May 22, 2025 (BSS) – A special court here today scrapped a case filed under Cyber Security Act against Sajjadur Rahman popularly known as Rakhal Raha, a member of the committee formed to revise books of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).

Judge Md Nure Alam of Dhaka Cyber Tribunal passed the order as government through a gazette yesterday repealed the Cyber Security Act, 2023.

“The government cancelled the Cyber Security Act, 2023, yesterday and issued Cyber Security Ordinance, 2025. The case, which was filed against Rakhal Raha, was lodged under sections 28, 31 of the now cancelled Cyber Security Act, 2023.

As the allegations brought under these sections, do not match the new ordinance, the court scrapped the case,” tribunal bench assistant Md Jewel told BSS.

Sajjad Hossain, joint member secretary of Students Against Discrimination's (SAD) Chattogram unit, filed the case with Dhaka's Cyber Tribunal against Rakhal Raha on March 3 for hurting religious sentiment.
