DHAKA, May 24, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today emphasized on discussions, saying all issues can be resolved through dialogue.

"We firmly believe that every problem has a solution through discussion...Our political mission is rooted in serving the country and its people," he said.

Dr Shafiqur made these remarks while addressing the inaugural session of Jamaat's six-monthly Central Majlish-e-Shura at Al-Falah Auditorium in the capital's Moghbazar as the chief guest.

He mentioned that the party's executive council has urged the government to initiate all-party talks, stressing that "dialogue is the only way to resolve the ongoing crisis, and it is the government's responsibility to take the first step."

Calling for an immediate declaration of a reform and electoral roadmap, the Jamaat Ameer said, "It has been nine months since promises of change were made, yet the people have seen no tangible action."

Referring the Chief Adviser's earlier statement that elections would be held between December and June, he said: "We have kept trust in his word. He is not our opponent. Since the government belongs to all, we are ready to cooperate. However, if a vacuum is created, no one can avoid responsibility."

With Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum, central party leaders, including Nayeb-e-Ameer and former lawmaker Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher, Professor Mujibur Rahman, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, former lawmaker Dr. Hamidur Rahman Azad, Maulana Abdul Halim, Advocate Muazyam Hossain Helal, Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Publicity and Media Secretary Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand, Dhaka City South Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul, and North Ameer Md. Selim Uddin were present.
