LAKSHMIPUR, May 24, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie today urged the people of the country for resisting conspirators who are working to hamper democratic process.
Speaking at a meeting following his inspection of ward-based leader elections at Purbo Syedpur Government Primary School in Dattapara Union and Dakkhin Maguri Government Primary School in Uttar Joypur Union under Lakshmipur Sadar upazila, Annie emphasized the importance of uninterrupted democratic progress.
A continuous democratic process fortifies the foundations of democracy and safeguards the democratic rights of all citizens," Annie said. "A vested quarter is working to derail this process. It is imperative that we collectively are thwarting these conspiracies."
Annie reiterated the BNP's commitment to establishing a national unity government, stating, "Our goal is to form a national unity government and take Bangladesh forward."
The BNP leader also cautioned that those who previously opposed democracy and fled the country remain active behind the scenes. "The fascists who once fled are not idle. We must stay vigilant," he warned.
Referring to the current administration, Annie said, "This government was established through our movement and struggle. It functions based on national consensus and we are cooperating with it."
"If we fail trial of Sheikh Hasina, the people of Bangladesh will suffer serious consequences," he said.
