Travel ban imposed on Nizam Hazari, 9 others

DHAKA, May 25, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on 10 
people including former lawmaker from Feni-2 constituency Nizam Uddin Hazari 
and his wife Nurjahan Begum over graft allegations.

The other people, who have been barred by the court from leaving the country, 
are-- Sheikh Abdullah and M Amirul Islam from Snigdha Overseas Limited, 
Catharsis International Limited Managing Director (MD) Mohammad Ruhul Amin, 
Unique Eastern Pvt Ltd owner Nur Ali and its officials Nasir Uddin Ahmed and 
Khandaker Showkat Hossain, Md Shafikul Islam from BM Travels Limited and 
Engineer Ishtiak Ahmed Saikat from BNS Overseas Limited.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the 
order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The anti-graft body in its plea said the commission is probing allegations 
against the accused of realizing extra money from Bangladeshi workers for 
sending them to Malaysia and laundering money. The accused may try to leave 
the country to evade justice and a travel ban should be imposed on them, the 
plea added.
