DHAKA, May 25, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy today said all major political parties agreed on the issue of democracy to save the country and they want Chief Adviser Prof Dr. Muhammad Yunus will be successful.

“If he is successful, it means the success of the July uprising,” he told a discussion at Jatiya Press Club.

 Desh Bachao, Bandor Bachao Andolon organized the discussion in protest against the conspiracy to hand over New Mooring Container Terminal (NMCT) of Chattogram Port to foreigners.

Gayeshwar threatened of announcing a larger programme if the New Mooring Container Terminal is handed over to foreigners.

"Now most important thing is to protect the country and the port as Chittagong Port is a profitable and natural port. It cannot be given to foreigners by any means,” he said.

“If there are no people in the country to run the port, then we can bring experts from abroad. Just as foreign cooperation was taken for the development of the garment industry. Still, we will not let the country suffer by giving Chittagong Port to foreigners,” he said.

Bangladesh Jatiya Dal Chairman and 12-party alliance coordinator Syed Ehsanul Huda chaired the event which was moderated by Bangladesh LDP Secretary General Tamiz Uddin Titu.

Jatiya Party Chairman Mustafa Jamal Haider, Bangladesh Biplobi Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Haque and CPB General Secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince, Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party Chairman Mujibur Rahman Manju, Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal General Secretary Bazlur Rashid Firoz, Bangladesh JSD General Secretary Nazmul Haque Prodhan, Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Noor, Bangladesh LDP Chairman and main coordinator of Desh Bachao Bandar Bachao Andolan Shahadat Hossain Selim also spoke.
