Travel ban issued on ex-state minister Chumki's husband

DHAKA, May 25, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on former chief executive officer (CEO) of Bangladesh Petroleum and Lubricants Muhammad Masudur Rahman, also the husband of former state minister for women and children affairs Meher Afroz Chumki.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The anti-graft body said the accused amassed illegal wealth of Taka 2.31 crore by misusing the power of his wife. Case has been filed against him for amassing the illegal wealth and keeping the ill-gotten properties under his possession.

"So, a travel ban should be imposed against Masudur to deter him from leaving the country till the conclusion of the probe against him," the plea added.
