KHULNA, May 25, 2025 (BSS) -The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) held a public hearing on Sunday (today) in Khulna to directly address complaints from citizens who have experienced harassment or been deprived of services by government offices in Khulna.
The hearing was held at the District Shilpakala Academy auditorium, where ACC Commissioner (Investigation) Md Ali Akbar Azizi was present as the chief guest.
Speaking as the chief guest, the ACC Commissioner stressed the responsibility of public officials to serve citizens with honesty and dedication.
“Government employees are paid with taxpayers’ money. Yet, some behave like masters rather than public servants, public servants must apply their full competence and serve citizens with integrity,” he said.
“Each of us is a judge in our own capacity. If we provide our families with gifts or assets that exceed our lawful income, how can we remain accountable before our children? We must lead by example in both our professional and personal lives,” he added.
ACC Commissioner (Enquiry) Brigadier General (Retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid addressed the programme as special guest with Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam in the chair.
Md Abdul Wadud, Deputy Director of the ACC’s Khulna Integrated District Office, delivered the welcome speech.
Among others, Md Firoz Sarkar, Divisional Commissioner of Khulna, ACC Director General (Prevention) Md Akhtar Hossain, Khulna Range Deputy Inspector General of Police, Md Rezaul Haque, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Md Zulfikar Ali Haider, and Superintendent of Police of Khulna, T.M. Mosharraf Hossain, also spoke at the event.
Government, semi-government, autonomous bodies, banks and financial institutions, as well as civil society members, journalists, prominent citizens, and complainants attended the mass hearing.
With the slogan “Unity of Youth against Corruption to Build a Just Future,” the event was part of the ACC’s ongoing campaign to ensure transparency and accountability in public service delivery.
