AL leader Murad on 5-day remand in trader Wadud killing case

DHAKA, May 26, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed Shahe Alam Murad, 
former general secretary of Dhaka South City unit of Awami League (AL), on a 
five-day remand in a case lodged over the killing of trader Abdul Wadud 
during the July mass uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Mohammad Zunayed passed the order 
as police produced the AL leader before the court and pleaded to place him on 
a seven-day remand in the case.

Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Murad from the 
city's Uttara area on April 17. He was placed on a four-day remand in 
Dhanmandi Riaj murder case on May 12.

According to the case documents, Wadud was shot and killed in the Nilkhet 
area under New Market Police Station on July 19 last year. 

His brother-in-law Abdur Rob filed the case against 130 including Sheikh 
Hasina and Obaidul Quader.
