SCBA honours CJ for Oxford Fellowship

DHAKA, May 28, 2025 (BSS) - The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) today felicitated Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed for being awarded with the prestigious Lifetime Honorary Fellowship by Wadham College, Oxford University, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the fields of law, justice and human rights.

The reception ceremony was held at the SCBA auditorium where Chief Justice attended as the chief guest. 

In his address, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Bar Association for the honour and support. The Chief Justice paid solemn tribute to the martyrs of the July Revolution.

He also reiterated his commitment to judicial reform, referencing the roadmap he had previously outlined. He highlighted updates on the ongoing activities of the Supreme Judicial Appointments Council and the Supreme Judicial Council.

Chief Justice called for collective efforts to ensure independence of the judiciary. 

He also put emphasis on establishing a separate administrative secretariat for the Supreme Court, urging all stakeholders to extend their full cooperation.
