Two remanded over Keraniganj bank vault looting

DHAKA, June 15, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed two people on one-day 
remand each in a case lodged over looting of Taka 15 lakh after breaking into 
the vault of IFIC Bank branch in suburban Keraniganj.

The two remanded accused are Al Amin Hawlader and Imran Sheikh.

Dhaka Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate AKM Mohiuudin passed the order as 
police pleaded for placing the accused on a seven-day remand each, Court 
Inspector Akter Hossain told BSS.

On June 11 last, another accused and guard of the bank Md Siam gave a 
confessional statement in the case.

Unidentified criminals broke into the vault of the IFIC Bank branch situated 
in the Rohitpur Boarding Intersection area under Keraniganj on June 9 and 
looted Taka 15.20 lakh from there. 

In a drive, a joint team of Detective Branch (DB) of Police and Keraniganj 
Model Police Station arrested three accused and recovered Taka 7.40 lakh from 
Siam's house and Taka 2.40 lakh and Taka 5.40 lakh from the houses of Al Amin 
and Imran respectively.

During the drive, police also seized a grinding machine and a crowbar used in 
the looting, knife and hard disk along with the DVR machine of the bank's 
CCTV system from their possession.

The case was later filed with the Keraniganj Model Police Station.
