DHAKA, June 15, 2025 (BSS) - BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Mostafa Mohsin Montu, veteran politician, freedom fighter and President of Gono Forum.

Montu passed away while undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in the capital this afternoon at the age of 80.

In a message of condolence, Tarique Rahman and Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said: "Mostafa Mohsin Montu was an honest and struggling figure in the democratic politics of the country."

Mostafa Mohsin Montu was both a freedom fighter and a proponent of moderate political ideology. Although he was once an Awami League MP, he later joined the Gono Forum and played an active role in favor of parliamentary democracy and dialogue-based politics.
