Mostafa Mohsin Montu was a freedom fighter in true sense: Mirza Fakhrul

DHAKA, June 15, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said Mostafa Mohsin Montu was not merely known as the president of the Gono Forum, rather his main identity was a freedom fighter in the true sense.

He told reporters while visiting late Gono Forum President Mostafa Mohsin Montu, a long-time fellow in the political life of Dhaka College and Dhaka University, at a hospital in the city.

The BNP Secretary General said, "We have lost a political leader who believed in the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh. His demise is an irreparable loss to the nation. Political leader like Mostafa Mohsin Montu is needed more in politics".

Mirza Fakhrul said Mostafa fought for independence. "Later, he left Awami League due to disagreements with the policy of the party," he added.

"I have lost a dear and close friend and his death is a great sorrow for all of us," he said and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Mostafa Mohsin Montu died at a city hospital at 5pm today.
