Travel ban on former Uddipon Chairman Dr Mihir, 9 others

DHAKA, June 16, 2025(BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on Dr. Mihir Kanti Majumder, former Secretary and Chairman of Uddipon, Non-Government Organization (NGO), and nine others to probe corruption allegations against them.

Senior Special Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order following a petition submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). 

The court also instructed the authorities concerned to lock their national identities for the sake of the investigation.

The other accused of the case are-former Vice-Chairman of the board of directors of the NGO Zakia K Hassan, its former Treasurer Dr Md Golam Ahad, its former Members-Md Mahbubur Rahman, Md Nazrul Islam Khan, Nahid Sultan, Bhobotosh Nath, Dr Abu Jamil Faysal, Shawkot Hossain and Bidyut Kumar Basu.

Deputy Director (PR) of the ACC Aktarul Islam told BSS that the accused persons in connivance with each other transferred Taka 13,45,00,000 from Uddipon’s fund to others against two projects defying the micro credit rules for the personal gain and misappropriation.

The ACC authorities came to know that the accused persons are trying to flee the country to avoid the investigation of the anti-graft body, the DD said adding that’s why they should be barred from going abroad and their national identities should be blocked immediately.
