Another close aide of Barrister Taposh held in city

DHAKA, June 17, 2025 (BSS) - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) 
arrested another associate of former Dhaka South City Corporation mayor 
Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh from the capital's Sukrabad area in the early 
hours of today for his suspected link to firing gunshots at the rally of an 
anti-discrimination movement.

The detainee has been identified as Md. Khorshed Alam, 48.

A CID team arrested Khorshed at 12:05am from the Sukrabad area under 
Dhanmondi Police Station, said a press release.

He is an accused in a murder case for his alleged involvement in shooting at 
an anti-discrimination student movement rally at Jigatola area on August 5 
last, in which an agitator named Abdullah Siddique was killed. 

A murder case with Dhanmondi Police Station in this connection was registered 
on September 19 last.

The CID in its investigation found that Khorshed Alam was present at the 
scene and led the attack. 

Khorshed was produced before a Dhaka court today with a seven-day remand 
prayer.

Earlier on May 15 in 2025, another close accomplice of Taposh, SM Kamal 
Haider, was arrested in the same case.
