Tarique Rahman mourns death of Prof Mahmuda Begum

DHAKA, July 6, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Professor Mahmuda Begum, noted educationist and mother of Amar Desh Editor Mahmudur Rahman.

In a post of his verified facebook page, the BNP Acting Chairman said, "Former energy adviser and editor of the daily 'Amar Desh' Dr Mahmudur Rahman's mother, eminent educationist Professor Mahmuda Begum, passed away while undergoing treatment at Barakah Kidney Hospital in the capital's Moghbazar early Sunday morning. Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Elaihi Rajeun."

Tarique Rahman said, "Professor Mahmuda Begum, who was very dedicated to the teaching profession, has educated numerous students with her talent and ability, who are now established in society and contributing to the country. In addition, as an ideal mother, she raised her children with good education. Late Professor Mahmuda Begum was a great woman and was highly respected by everyone concerned."

He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
