Content creator Tawhid Afridi sent to jail

DHAKA, Aug 30, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sent content creator Tawhid Afridi to jail, denying his bail in connection with Asadul Haque Babu murder case during July Uprising in Jatrabari area.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasib Ullah Piyas passed the order after the hearing as Afrtdi, who were in five-day remand, was produced before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court. 

Earlier, the investigation officer (IO) Inspector Khan Mohammad Erfan of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) requested the court that Afridi be kept in custody for more information about the murder.
 
Meanwhile, Afridi's lawyer applied for bail during the hearing, while the prosecution opposed the request. After hearing both sides, the court denied bail and ordered that Afridi be sent to jail.

A  CID team arrested Afridi from Barishal on August 24 and placed him on a five-day remand on the following day. 

Asadul Haque Babu, 24, was shot during the July Uprising in Jatrabari area on August 5, 2024 and subsequently declared dead at the hospital.
 
His father Zainal Abedin filed a murder case in this connection against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 24 others, including Nasir Uddin Sathi and his son Tawhid Afridi with Jatrabari Police Station on August 30 2024.
