Journalist dies while covering DUCSU election at Curzon Hall

DHAKA, Sept 09, 2025(BSS) – A journalist died here this afternoon while covering the Dhaka University Central Students Union (DUCSU) election at the Curzon Hall on the Dhaka University campus.

The deceased was identified as Tarikul Islam Shibly, 40, a city reporter of private satellite television Channel S.

He felt sick at about 1pm while reporting on the DUCSU polls at Curzon Hall area and was immediately taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the attending doctors declared him dead.

Shibly hailed from Etbarpur village under Burichang Upazila of Cumilla district. His was the son of AKM Shahidullah. He was residing at Uttara Diabari area along with his wife and two daughters.

Inspector Mohammad Faruk, in-Charge of DMCH Police Outpost quoting duty doctors said that the journalist died of a massive cardiac failure. His body has been kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy.
