Fakhrul mourns death of Rajshahi City Mohila Dal leader Popy

DHAKA, Sept 10, 2025 (BSS) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Advocate Rawshan Ara Popy, president of the Rajshahi city unit of Bangladesh Mohila Dal.

In a condolence message, the BNP Secretary General said, “Rawshan Ara Popy, a firm believer in the principles and ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam, and the BNP philosophy, was dedicated to building the Rajshahi city unit of the party on a strong, dynamic and solid foundation.”

“She played a courageous role in the democratic movement and struggle under the leadership of our national leader Begum Khaleda Zia,” he added.

Popy, 65, passed away on Tuesday night while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka. She is survived by her husband, children, relatives and numerous admirers.

In his message, the BNP Secretary General prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, in separate messages, BNP Chairperson’s Adviser and former Rajshahi Mayor Mizanur Rahman Minu, Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal President Afroza Abbas and General Secretary Sultana Ahmed also expressed deep shock and sorrow at Popy’s demise.

They prayed for the eternal peace of her soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family.
