Jubo League leader Amin held in July Uprising murder case

DHAKA, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS) - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) early today arrested a Jubo League leader over murder of a student Nadimul Haque Elem during July Uprising. 
 
The arrested has been identified as Md. Hedayetul Islam Amin (49), son of Nazrul Islam, a resident of 26, Sikkatuli Lane under Bangshal Police Station. 
 
He was arrested from the Sikkatuli Lane area under Bangshal Police Station around 2:30 am today, said a CID press release.
 
According to the case details, Nadimul Haque Elem, an active activist of the anti-discrimination movement and a former student of Sheikh Borhan Uddin College was shot dead at Patla Khan Lane adjacent to the intersection of Kabi Nazrul College in Old Dhaka on July 19 last year. 
 
After the incident, the victim's mother Kismat Ara filed a murder case with Sutrapur Police Station against 89 people including deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
 
In the same incident, the leader of the anti-discrimination student movement, Md. Shamsul Alam Arefin, filed a case under sections 34/109/149/302 Penal Code with Sutrapur Police Station under on August 24 in 2024. 
 
Currently, the investigation into the incident is being conducted by the CID, Dhaka Metro South Division.
