DHAKA, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sent Motazzerul Islam Mithu, the mastermind of corruption in the health sector during the Awami League (AL) regime, to jail in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Acting Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court Md Ibrahim Mia sent Mithu to jail as he was produced before the court in a corruption case.
Earlier, around 11 pm on Wednesday, a team of DB-Wari Division arrested Mithu in a raid conducted in Gulshan in the capital.
The ACC produced him before the court with a prayer for 10 days' remand, while the lawyer of the detained sought bail for Mithu.
After hearing both petitions, the court fixed September 18 for the hearing on the petitions.
ACC Deputy Director Md Saiduzzaman filed the case against Mithu on September 10 on charges of acquiring Tk 75 crore beyond known sources of income.
