DHAKA, Sept 11,2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed today said the only legitimate way to amend the constitution is through parliament.

He said, "The only legitimate way to amend the constitution is through Parliament. The constitution should not be amended in a way that could later be questioned."

The senior BNP leader made the remarks as the chief guest at a discussion titled 'Expectations and Challenges for a Fair Election' held at the CIRDAP Auditorium in the city. Citizen platform Nagorik Coalition organized the event.

Leaders from various political parties and representatives from the society participated in the discussion.

"In reality, an independent Election Commission, an independent judiciary, a caretaker government, and a free media - these four things will be the safeguards for a fair election. Even after being free from fascism, we have not been able to reach a consensus on some issues for democracy, which is now the challenge," Salahuddin added.

He also said that BNP is committed to establishing a discrimination-free state.
