Three held with yaba tablets in city

DHAKA, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) of Police under Gulshan Division has arrested three alleged drug dealers and recovered 5,000 pieces of yaba tablets from Kaptan Bazar area of the city.

The arrested are Ehsan Ullah, 40, Abdul Gafur, 50, and Md Sobir, 37, according to a press release issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Media and Public Relations Division) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman, today.

On a tip-off, a DB team of Gulshan division conducted a raid in Kaptan Bazar area under Wari Police Station at about 08:45am today and arrested the trio-Ehsan, Gafur and Sobir.

The team also sized 5,000 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from their possession, it added. 

A case under the Narcotics Control Act was registered against the arrested persons with Wari Police Station.

Police said the arrested persons were active members of an organised drug trafficking gang. During the initial interrogation, they confessed that they had been collecting yaba tablets from Cox's Bazar for a long time and selling those in different areas of the capital city.

The arrested persons have been produced to the court, the release said.
