JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS)- The voting of long-awaited elections to the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) and hall unions concluded today at 6.30 pm.

According to the election commission, over 70 percent of registered voters cast their ballots. The commission expressed hope that results would be finalized by midnight.

Earlier, the polls began on schedule at 9 am at 21 centres, comprising 224 booths in 11 male and 10 female residential halls.

For the first time in JUCSU history, optical mark recognition (OMR) technology-based ballot forms are being used in the elections.

Many first-time voters expressed excitement over participating in a democratic process after a 33-year deadlock.

To ensure security, 1,500 police personnel, seven platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and five platoons of Ansar have been deployed across the campus.

Additional forces have also been stationed both inside and outside the premises to prevent any untoward incidents.
