BNACWC expert team visits chemical warehouses of Benapole Land Port

DHAKA, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC) has visited Benapole Land Port  recently to inspect the chemical security management of the port.
 
“BNACWC’s Member Secretary Commodore Mohammad Mohabbat Ali led the 10-member inspection team there on Monday last . . . they also visited the customs laboratory located at Benapole Land Port,” said a release of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate this evening. 

 The Director of Benapole Land Port and the representative team of Benapole customs briefed the BNACWC delegation about the security measures of the warehouses storing scheduled chemicals and other chemicals imported through the port and the identification by customs, it said.

However, the inspection team made several recommendations to the port authorities to strengthen the chemical safety system of the port.

Earlier on September 9, 2025, a total of 30 officers and employees of Benapole Land Port and Customs involved in the identification, handling and storage of chemicals were provided theoretical and practical training on national and international obligations for the safety of scheduled chemicals, the harmful effects on human life and the environment due to unsafe handling of chemicals, and the correct identification of scheduled chemicals., the ISPR added.
