Fire breaks out in twin factory buildings in Mirpur

DHAKA, Oct 14, 2025 (BSS) - A fire broke out in a garment and pharmaceutical factory at Rupnagar in the capital’s Mirpur area.

The fire originated in Cosmic Pharma and Sardar Garments Factory at Sialbari, Rupnagar in Mirpur around 11:40am today, media officer of Fire Service and Civil Defenec (FSCD) Talha-bin Jasim told BSS.

The two building is located side by side in front of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) in Rupnagar, he said.

Seven firefighting engines rushed to the spot at around 11:56 am and are working to douse the blaze while one other unit is on the way, he said.

The firefighters are working carefully due to having chemical in Cosmic Pharma, he said.

However, the FSCD did not confirm from which building the fire originated and the cause behind the blaze. But, they confirmed that they have yet to receive any report of casualty.
