DMP donates Tk one lakh for treatment of injured traffic assistant

DHAKA, Oct 23, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali has donated Taka 100,000 in cash for the treatment of traffic assistant Md. Nazmul Huda, who was seriously injured while attempting to arrest a robber.

According to Tejgaon Traffic Department, Nazmul Huda was on duty at Ganabhaban crossing around 8:30 pm on August 25 when a police officer in plain clothes was attacked by robbers. Upon witnessing the incident, Huda immediately intervened to assist the officer.

During the confrontation, the criminals attacked Huda indiscriminately, leaving him seriously injured. He was later taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for treatment.

During the attack, Huda suffered a torn lip and lost five teeth. His injuries required 32 stitches and root canal treatment with caps for five teeth, costing about Taka 1.40 lakh.

The DMP Commissioner visited the hospital and inquired about his treatment and assured that the department would bear the necessary expenses. 

Later, he handed over Taka 100,000 to the injured traffic assistant as a grant. 

Besides, the traffic department earlier provided Taka 20,000 to meet Huda’s initial medical expenses.

Expressing his gratitude, Huda thanked the DMP Commissioner and other officials for their support. 

Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman, Joint Police Commissioner (Traffic-Admin, Planning and Research) Md. Anisur Rahman, and other officials were present on the occasion.
