Media campaign on Motor Vehicle Speed Limit Guideline 2024 launched

DHAKA, Oct 23, 2025 (BSS)- A mass media campaign to raise awareness among drivers and the public about the Motor Vehicle Speed Limit Guideline 2024 has been launched for the first time in Dhaka. 

The campaign was inaugurated this afternoon at the conference room of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), a press release said.

The awareness materials have been developed under the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) with technical support from the 'Vital Strategies', a global public health organization.

DNCC’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Asaduzzaman presided over the inaugural ceremony while Chief Engineer Brig. Gen. Md. Moin Uddin attended as the guest of honor there. 

The event was conducted by BIGRS Initiative Coordinator and Additional Secretary (Retd.) Md. Abdul Wadud.

Joint Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division Md. Moniruzzaman, Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) General Manager (Operation) Maj. Md. Nizam Uddin, Senior Road Safety Specialist of Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) Md. Mamunur Rashid, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Gulshan Traffic Division (DMP) Md. Ziaur Rahman, DNCC Superintendent Engineer Khondker Mahbub Alam, road crash victim's wife Rebeka Sultana Neela and Vital Strategies Technical Consultant Aminul Islam Sujan, also addressed the event, among others.

The campaign features 30, 45, 60 and 90-second video clips to be broadcast on websites, YouTube, social media, and digital roadside screens. 

Two poster designs have also been created for roadside display, promoting adherence to the speed limit. The materials will be disseminated through BRTA, DMP, and DTCA.

Representatives from BRTA, World Resources Institute, WHO, BRAC, Nirapad Sarak Chai, National Heart Foundation, Dhaka International University and other members of the Bangladesh Road Safety Coalition attended the event.
