DHAKA, Oct 24, 2025 (BSS) – National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organizer (Southern Region) Hasnat Abdullah today said the party is ready to assist in ensuring an impartial and acceptable national election, but warned that the ongoing practice of partisan control over administration and state institutions must end first.

“The democracy that Sheikh Hasina had plundered — we are prepared to help the nation regain it through a neutral and acceptable election. But the existing culture of political power-sharing and administrative division among parties must stop,” he said.

Hasnat Abdullah was addressing the coordination meeting of the party’s Dhaka City North, Dhaka City South and Dhaka District unit at Shahid Abu Sayed International Convention Centre at Shahbagh in the capital.

NCP Member Secretary Akhter Hossain, Senior Joint Convent Ariful Islam Adeeb, Chief Organizer (Northern Region) Sarjis Alam, Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary and Senior Joint Chief Coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud also addressed, among others, on the occasion.

Hasnat said NCP should not be judged by numbers or street strength, as real political power comes from moral conviction and public trust. “Do not measure the National Citizen Party by numbers,” he said, adding, “Even if only one person stands for truth and justice, the entire nation will rally behind him.”

Regarding the election, Hasnat alleged that the current election process appeared to be heading toward another “engineered” outcome similar to the disputed polls of 2014, 2018 and 2024.

He said a political group has been using its control over banks, businesses and school committees to prepare employees and teachers as polling agents ahead of the election.

“Teachers are being coerced, and school committees are being used for political purposes,” he said, warning that such tactics threaten free and fair voting.

Hasnat also said conspiracies are being plotted from different places to determine electoral results, urging patriotic members of the armed forces to stand with the people. “Even if tanks roll over us or bullets are fired, we will not leave the streets,” he said.

Calling on party activists to be self-reliant, Hasnat said, “Do not depend on administrative help. You must do politics with your own resources and conviction.” He urged those motivated only by power to leave the party, saying the NCP’s mission was to build a fair and discrimination-free Bangladesh.

“Our journey toward a just and equal Bangladesh will continue,” he added.
