DHAKA, Oct 25, 2025 (BSS)- Naripokkho, an organization of women’s right activists, expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the interim government for ratifying three conventions of International Labour Organization (ILO) for protecting rights of the workers.
“This is undoubtedly an important initial step toward protecting the rights and interests of the workers,” said a statement of Naripokkho.
The current interim government has recently ratified three important conventions of the ILO. The conventions are- Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 1981 (No. 155), Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 2006 (No. 187) and Violence and Harassment Convention, 2019 (No. 190).
The statement said the wheels of the nation’s economy are rolling on the hard work and sweat of workers.
“Yet, it is unacceptable that these workers are deprived of fair wages, denied safety at workplaces, and forced to live in inhuman conditions due to a lack of access to adequate food, clothing, shelter, and healthcare,” reads the statement.
Naripokkho hoped that this initiative of the government will not remain confined to paperwork only; rather, effective and timely measures will be taken to ensure full implementation of the conventions and thereby improve the quality of life of workers.
