DHAKA, Oct 26, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Army today seized a large cache of foreign-made firearms and explosives from the “Banalata Express”, a Dhaka–Rajshahi intercity train during a special operation at Airport Railway Station in Dhaka.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the seized items include eight foreign-made pistols, 16 magazines, 26 rounds of ammunition, 2.39 kilograms of gunpowder, and 2.23 kilograms of plastic explosives.

The operation, conducted at 11:15 am today, based on intelligence reports indicating that arms and explosives were being smuggled by the Rajshahi-bound train.

Acting on a tip-off, the army team — in coordination with the National Intelligence Agency and Airport Railway Police — searched a specific coach and successfully recovered the arms, ammunition, and explosives, preventing a potential security threat.

Four individuals suspected to be linked to the incident were handed over to police, the release added.
