DHAKA, Oct 26, 2025 (BSS) – The National Democratic Movement (NDM) has submitted a formal letter to the Election Commission (EC), urging it to uphold the previous provision of the Representation of the People Order (RPO) ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections.

The demand was made in a letter signed by the party's chairman, Bobby Hajjaj, to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin today. Party Office Secretary Jabedur Rahman Johnny submitted the letter to the CEC's office.

The letter stated that even if an electoral alliance is formed, a candidate should be able to run under their own party's symbol, which was previously a matter of choice for political parties in the alliance.

It added that if a political party can campaign and participate in an alliance, there is no logical reason why it would be legally obligated to contest under its own symbol.

“We are demanding that the provisions of the Representation of the People Order-1972 be upheld so that political parties have the freedom to contest under the symbol of any party in the alliance during an alliance election,” the letter said.
