DHAKA, Oct 26, 2025 (BSS) – Bogura’s Shibganj Upazila BNP has gifted a new house to Sahena Bewa, the mother of July martyr Roni, on the occasion of Barrister Zaima Rahman’s birthday — the only daughter of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Dr. Zubaida Rahman.

The humanitarian initiative was sponsored and supervised by Mir Shahe Alam, BNP’s nomination aspirant for the Bogura-2 (Shibganj) constituency and president of the upazila BNP.

The key handover ceremony was held this afternoon at Panchdash village in Buriganj union.

Receiving the gift, Roni’s mother said, “I lost my son, but today I feel like I have found another family.” She also offered prayers for BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman, and his daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman.

Shibganj Upazila BNP General Secretary Advocate Abdul Wahab, along with other leaders of the Upazila BNP and its affiliated organizations, were present on the occasion.

During the anti-discrimination student movement, Roni Pramanik — a rickshaw puller from Panchdash village, Shibganj, Bogura — was shot dead in Savar, Dhaka, on the afternoon of July 20. He had gone out to buy medicine for his ailing son when he was hit by a bullet and died.

His family could not afford to bring his body home. Later, with the help of local residents, his wife and two children rented an ambulance to transport the body to their village. Roni was laid to rest on July 21 in Panchdash village, Buriganj Union, Shibganj.
