DHAKA, Oct 27, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered the freezing of five bank accounts belonging to former joint secretary of the National Parliament Secretariat AKMG Kibria Mazumder, which contain a total of Taka 38.81 lakh.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The anti-graft body in its plea said Kibria, who was also a personal secretary to former Railways Minister Muzibul Haque, has amassed illegal
wealth of hundreds of crores, and it is probing allegations against him.

"Though AKMG Kibria Mazumder is in jail right now, his family members or any other person on his behalf may withdraw money from his accounts and launder the sum abroad. So these accounts should be frozen immediately," the plea added.

Meanwhile, the same court also ordered the freezing of 17 bank accounts belonging to SM Jahangir Hossain, president of the Bangladesh Fruits, Vegetables and Allied Products Exporters Association (BFVAPEA), and his affiliated businesses.
