Five AL men held for bringing out sudden procession in city

DHAKA, Oct 28, 2025 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested five 
leaders and activists of Awami League (AL) and its associate organisations 
from different parts of the capital city during the last 24 hours on charges 
of making attempt to destabilize the country by bringing out sudden 
processions.

The arrested have been identified as former acting mayor of Nalchiti 
Municipality Md Faruk Hossain, 61, Md Rubel, 28, Md Khokon, 40, Md Sagar, 40, 
Md Shanto, 24, according to a press release issued by Dhaka Metropolitan 
Police (DMP)'s media and public relations division here today.

Deputy Commissioner of the DMP Muhammad Telebur Rahman confirmed the matter 
and said a DB team of Wari Division arrested the four from Bhatara Police 
Station area on Monday.
 
In addition, another team of the Gulshan Division arrested former acting 
mayor of Nalchiti Municipality Md Faruk Hossain from Sabujbagh area at about 
7:30am today, according to the release.

The detainees were involved in organising and destabilizing the country by 
holding sudden processions in different parts of the capital, it added.

Legal action is under process against the arrested persons, the release 
further said.
