Three leaders of Jhalkathi AL sent to jail

JHALKATHI, Oct 28, 2025(BSS) - A court here today ordered to send three leaders of Awami League (AL) Jhalkathi district unit to jail in connection with a case for damaging the office of the district BNP.

The three AL leaders are - Salauddin Ahmed Salek, vice president of district AL and former president of local federation of chambers of commerce and industries, Mahbub Hossain, general secretary of Poura AL and former president of the local chamber and Mahbubur Rahman Talukder, former president of Jhalkathi Lawyers Association and a member of Bangabandhu Aiyeenjibi Parishad, Jhalkathi unit.

Advocate Maheb Hossain, Public Prosecutor (PP) of Jhalkathi said the AL leaders following a high court direction surrendered before the court of Senior District and Sessions Judge Md Rafiqul Islam after expiry of their six-week bail and moved for separate bail petitions.

The court after hearing both the sides, ordered to send them to jail rejecting their bail petitions.

Additional Public Prosecutor of the court Advocate Md Akkas Shikder said that Syed Ziaul Islam, Organizing Secretary of Sadar upazila BNP filed a case against 59 people including the coordinator of 14-party alliance Amir Hossain Amu on November 11 last year under explosive substance act.
