DHAKA, Oct 28, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today imposed a travel ban on former home minister Mohammed Nasim’s wife Laila Arjumand, sons Tomal Mansur and Tanvir Shakil Joy and two others over graft allegations.

The two others, who have been barred from leaving the country, are-Joy’s wife Sabrina Sultana Chowdhury and Nasim’s former private secretary Mir Mosharraf Hossain.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ACC plea stated that an inquiry team has been formed to investigate allegations that Tanvir Shakil Joy amassed wealth through abuse of power, various irregularities, and corruption, and conducted transactions through bank accounts operated in his name and in the names of persons associated with his interests.

“During the investigation, confidential sources revealed that the individuals involved in the allegations had attempted to flee abroad. If they succeed in leaving the country, it would delay the collection of evidence and seriously hamper the ongoing investigation. Therefore, it has become imperative to impose a restriction on their foreign travel,” the plea added.
