ACC files graft case against 3 LGED engineers, a contractor

DHAKA, Oct 28, 2025 (BSS) - The ACC today filed a case against three engineers of the LGED and a contractor on charge of embezzling Taka 1.22 crore from construction work of a primary school building in the city’s Gabtoli area.

Assistant Director of the Public Relations Department of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Md Tanzir Ahmed said that Assistant Director of the ACC Integrated Dhaka-1office Swapon Kumar Ray filed the case with the commission.

The accused engineers are Mohammad Bachhu Miah, Executive Engineer of the LGED, its senior assistant engineer Md Saber Ali and Deputy Assistant Engineer Md Shams Javed and contractor of the project Abu Sayeed Khan.

According to the ACC, the accused persons in connivance with each other withdrew all the bills of the construction work providing false statement and fake documents. 

According to the reports of the Public Works Department, the estimated budget for the construction was Taka 2.45 crore but the accused persons paid Taka 3.67 crore to the contractor and they misappropriated Taka 1.22 crore from the project.
