One gets life imprisonment for gunning down youth in Kadamtali

DHAKA, Oct 29, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today convicted and sentenced Anik Hossain to life imprisonment in a case lodged for shooting Sajedur Rahman Saju, 28, dead in the capital's Kadamtali area in 2012.
  
Judge Md Jakaria Hossain of Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 pronounced the judgment in the presence of the convict and also fined him Taka 20,000, to suffer one more year behind bars in default.

According to the case documents, on January 23, 2012, victim Sajedur Rahman Saju, 28, was attacked while playing badminton behind a meat shop beside a mosque at Burir Bari on Khorshed Ali Sardar Road under Kadamtali Police Station in the capital. 

Anik, along with seven to eight others, shot and hacked him in a pre-planned assault.
 
As people rushed seriously injured Saju to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, doctors declared him dead there.
 
Saju's father, Saidur Rahman Sayed, filed the case with the Kadamtali Police Station and police on December 30, 2014, filed charge-sheet against Anik. 

The court on November 15, 2015, framed charges against the sole accused and examined a total of 10 witnesses on different hearing dates.
