
DHAKA, Oct 29, 2025 (BSS) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) detective branch (DB) have arrested five more Awami League leaders and activists on charges of staging flash marches at different areas of the city as part of its continued drives against the now disbanded party.
“They are arrested in drives carried out in the past 24 hours at different parts of the city as they staged flash marches,” a DMP official familiar with the development said.
A DMP statement said former mayor of suburban Kaliganj and upazila unit president of Awami League M Robin Hossain were among those who were arrested during the time.
DMP’s deputy commissioner Muhammad Telebur Rahman said a DB team of Gulshan division arrested Rabin Hossain from Bashundhara Residential area in a raid in early hours of today.
The arrested others are: Kachua Upazila Awami League’s vice-president and central committee member of Krishak League Ishaq Sikder, Shyampur Thana Awami League vice president Ibrahim Ahmed Ripon, joint general secretary of Madarganj Upazila Awami League Raihan Rahmatullah alias Rimu and Chhatra League activist Md Istiak Milon.
According to the statement another DB team of Tejgaon division arrested Ishak Sikdar from Shantinagar area at about 10:45 pm yesterday.
A separate DB team of Lalbagh division arrested Milon from Tejgaon area at about 5:45 pm yesterday and two separate cyber unit teams arrested Ibrahim Ahmed Ripon from Gulshan area at about 10:45 pm and Rimu from Nikunja area at about 11:45 pm.
The statement accused the detainees of destabilizing the country by holding sudden processions in different parts of the capital.
“Legal actions are underway against them,” it added.
