
RANGPUR, Oct 30, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami central executive council member ATM Azharul Islam said that if the July Charter is implemented, the people of the country will regain their democratic rights and lost voting rights.
"The July Charter, signed with the consent of all political parties, is a historic milestone for the country. If it is implemented, elections will be free and fair, and voting will no longer take place at night as before. There will be no opportunity to rob ballot boxes," he said.
He made the remarks while addressing a women's rally organized by Alampur Union Jamaat-e-Islami at Bhimpur Darus Sunnat Dakhil Madrasa ground in Taraganj upazila of Rangpur on Wednesday evening.
Alampur Union Jamaat-e-Islami President Mohammad Akkas Ali presided over the event.
Later, Azharul Islam spoke at another rally organized by Soyar Union Jamaat-e-Islami at Kazirhat Government Primary School ground in the upazila with Union President Kazi Ilias Ali in the chair.
Earlier in the afternoon, he attended the prize distribution ceremony of a football tournament held at Kazi Para playground in Soyar Union and distributed prizes among the winners.
Azharul Islam said that if Jamaat-e-Islami is entrusted with the responsibility of governing the country, it will prioritize regional development and people's welfare.
"We will place special emphasis on expanding technical education, generating employment for unemployed youth, improving health services, and ensuring the development of schools, colleges, and madrasas across the Rangpur-2 (Taraganj-Badarganj) constituency," he said.
He added, "We will preserve and use public resources honestly, following the path shown by Allah for the welfare of society and the state."
Jamaat-e-Islami's Badarganj Upazila Nayeb-E-Ameer Ameer Shah Muhammad Rustam Ali, Taraganj Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer SM Alamgir Hossain and Secretary Moulana Yakub Ali, Ulama Parishad President Moulana Abu Hanif, Mohammad Atiar Rahman, among others, also spoke at the events.
