Army seizes 4,000 cubic feet of illegal timber in Khagrachhari

KHAGRACHHARI, Oct 30, 2025 (BSS) - Members of the Bangladesh Army seized 4,000 cubic feet of illegal timber from the Burmachhari Bazar area under Lakshmichhari upazila of the district today.

According to officials of the Lakshmichhari Zone, an army patrol team conducted a drive in the Dewan Para area adjacent to Burmachhari Bazar and seized the illegal timber.

The market value of the seized timber is estimated at around Taka 1.2 crore, an official of the zone said.

The smugglers managed to flee the scene sensing the presence of the army personnel.

Later, the seized timber was handed over to the Forest Department for legal action.
