Former DU Prof Mahbubur Rahman passes away

DHAKA, Oct 30, 2025 (BSS) – Professor Mahbubur Rahman, a retired faculty member of Dhaka University’s Public Administration department, passed away today. 

He was 71.

He breathed his last this morning at his residence in the capital, according to family sources.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, students, relatives, and a host of well-wishers to mourn his death.

DU Vice-Chancellor (In Charge) Professor Dr. Sayma Haque Bidisha has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of the professor.

In a condolence message, she said that late Professor Mahbubur Rahman was an accomplished teacher and researcher whose contributions to education and research in Bangladesh will be remembered with respect.

She prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

His namaz-e-janaza was held after Asr prayers today at the University’s central Mosque. 

The body of the late Professor was taken to his hometown Madaripur, where he will be laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard.
