SIRAJGANJ, Oct 31, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member and ex-minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said that current religion-based politics has no connection with true Islamic politics.

“Islam is a universal invitational religion,” he said while speaking before the Khutbah of the Juma prayers at the Paikosha Bazar Jame Mosque in Kamarkhand Upazila, Sirajganj.

Tuku appealed to everyone to maintain vigilance and urged them to keep their mothers and sisters alert against the propaganda spread by those who engage in politics using religion, talk about votes, and promise tickets to heaven.

The former minister alleged that autocratic Hasina had falsely sentenced him to nine years in jail.
