DHAKA, Nov 2, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) dismissed as 'completely fabricated and baseless' a video circulating on social media that allegedly shows its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announcing the party's final list of candidates for the upcoming 13th national election.

The video was produced and circulated on Saturday by a malicious group using artificial intelligence (AI) tools. The group reportedly edited footage and audio from previous press briefings to mimic the voice and image of Mirza Fakhrul, said a press release signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today.

"This so-called video is entirely false and fabricated," the statement said, adding that it was an attempt to mislead the public and create confusion ahead of the national polls.

The BNP urged the country's people, particularly its leaders, activists, and prospective candidates, not to be deceived by such manipulated content.

"The party calls on everyone to remain alert against such digital misinformation campaigns designed to damage the BNP's image and disrupt the election atmosphere," the statement added.
