DHAKA, Nov 2, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has conducted a special drive in the capital's Kawran Bazar area led to the seizure of 2,870 kilograms of banned polythene and the imposition of a total fine of Taka 15,000 on two companies.

The operation was held between 12.30 pm and 02.30 pm today at Kawean Bazar, targeting the illegal sale, supply, and marketing of banned polythene, said a RAB press release.

The mobile court, led by RAB-2 Executive Magistrate Abu Hasan penalized the organizations for violating environmental regulations.

During the drive, the magistrate also issued verbal warnings, urging all traders to refrain from producing, selling, or marketing banned polythene products in the future.

According to RAB-2, the operation followed intelligence reports indicating that some unscrupulous traders were secretly distributing and selling banned polythene in the Kawran Bazar area.

Based on the information, RAB-2 increased surveillance and carried out the raid to curb the illegal activity.

RAB officials confirmed that similar drives will continue across the city to ensure environmental protection and strict enforcement of the ban on polythene use.
