Court orders seizure of ex-minister SM Rezaul, wife's tax files

DHAKA, Nov 03, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of the income tax files of former Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim, and his wife, Feroza Parveen.
 
 Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order today in response to two separate applications filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
 
 According to the application, SM Rezaul Karim is under investigation on allegations of abusing his official authority to illicitly acquire wealth amounting to Taka 7.96 crore, disproportionate to his known sources of income, which he kept under his possession. He also allegedly conducted suspicious transactions of Taka 6.84 crore through 12 bank accounts, involving the transfer, conversion, and relocation of funds, in connection with offenses involving bribery, corruption, and money laundering.
 
 The application regarding Feroza Parveen stated that she allegedly acquired and possessed illegal wealth amounting to Taka 4.06 crore, disproportionate to her known sources of income, with the assistance of her husband, former minister Rezaul Karim.
