DHAKA, Nov 3, 2025 (BSS) - The eight-party alliance led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will submit a memorandum to the Chief Adviser on November 6, demanding immediate implementation of the July Charter and a separate referendum to ensure its legal basis.

The decision came from a top-level meeting of the alliance held at the Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish office in the city.

The meeting, which began at 11am, was followed by a joint press briefing where leaders outlined their five-point demand and announced their next course of action.

Announcing the programmes, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish Ameer Maulana Mamunul Haque said a mass procession would be held on November 6 to submit the memorandum to the Chief Adviser.

"If the government fails to show satisfactory progress on their demands, the alliance will hold a mass rally in Dhaka on November 11," he added.

The alliance's five-point demand includes immediate issuance of an order to implement the July Charter, holding a separate referendum to ensure its legal basis, retaining the revised Representation of the People Order (RPO) without further amendments, introducing elections under a proportional representation system, ensuring a level playing field and guaranteeing justice for July Uprising victims and collaborators of fascism.

Addressing the press, Islami Andolon Bangladesh Ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim (Pir Saheb Chormonai) said the legal foundation of the July Charter was essential for the legitimacy of both the current government and the July Uprising.

"Without a legal basis, the reforms, the uprising, and even the government itself will face questions of legitimacy," he added.

Expressing disappointment over emerging divisions among political parties regarding the timing of the referendum, he said, "All parties had earlier reached a consensus on holding a referendum. The current disagreement is regrettable."

He called upon all parties to come together again to resolve their differences and restore a peaceful political atmosphere.

Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, Islami Andolon Bangladesh Presidium Member Prof. Ashraf Ali Akon, Khelafat Majlish Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Mahbubul Haque, JAGPA Vice-President and Spokesperson Rashed Pradhan, Islami Andolon Bangladesh Secretary General Principal Maulana Yunus Ahmad, Khelafat Majlish Secretary General Dr. Ahmad Abdul Kader, Nezam-e-Islam Party Secretary General Maulana Musa bin Izhar, Khelafat Andolon Secretary General Maulana Yusuf Sadiq Haqqani and Bangladesh Development Party Secretary General Kazi Nizamul Haque Nayeem were present, among others, at the press conference.
