DHAKA, Nov 3, 2025 (BSS) - In a successful Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) operation, two detonators and 250 grams of high-powered explosives recovered from Chhanbari area of Chhatak Upazila in Sunamganj were safely deactivated in Sylhet.

The deactivation took place this morning in Telikhal area of Companiganj upazila, with assistance from the Bangladesh Army's bomb disposal unit and under the supervision of Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB), said a press release.

For safety and border security reasons, the explosives were neutralized at a location far from the border.

Earlier, on the night of October 31, a special team from the Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) conducted an operation in Chhanbari Bazar, Chhatak, and recovered a foreign revolver, 250 grams of high-powered explosives, and two detonators hidden under a pile of sand.

The revolver was handed over to the local police station as per protocol, while the explosives and detonators were deactivated today.

Lt. Col. Md. Nazmul Haque, Commander of the Sylhet Battalion, said the recovered weapons and explosives were likely brought into Bangladesh to destabilize the country and carry out sabotage.

He emphasized that BGB's enhanced intelligence and vigilance have been crucial in thwarting such smuggling attempts, assuring that these operations will continue to ensure national security.
